Star Trek: Renegades

Star Trek: Renegades is an independent film made by the same team that brought us Star Trek: Of Gods and Men.
In Star Trek: Renegades, ten years has passed since the return of the starship Voyager. And the Federation is in crisis. The main suppliers of dillithium crystals are disappearing and space and time have folded around several planets. This necessitates drastic measures; For this, 143-year old Admiral Pavel Chekov - played by Walter Koenig - head of Starfleet Intelligence, turns to Commander Tuvok, head of the newly reorganized Section 31. Tuvok must put together a new covert, renegade crew - mostly outcasts and rogues - even criminals. A futuristic Dirty Dozen. Or is that The Dillithium Dirty Dozen?
Star Trek: Renegades is a film set in the original Star Trek universe, and is not to be confused with the re-imagined universe of J.J. Abrams. The film also stars Sean Young, Robert Picardo, Edward Furlong and Corin Nemec.

Quentin Tarantino's latest is a western set in post-Civil War Wyoming. Subject to release late 2015 or early 2016 the cast of The Hateful Eight is filled with several names previously associated with Tarantino. Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen each have major roles. Also in the cast are Kurt Rusell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Channing Tatum and Bruce Dern.

The plot involves a group of bounty hunters as they try to find shelter during a blizzard but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception.
The big news that broke is that Ennio Morricone is the soundtrack composer. This marks the first time in 40 years that Morricone scored a Western.
While Morricone has kept himself busy these last few decades with over 500 film credits to his name, his most iconic work perhaps came from the spaghetti westerns, Once Upon a Time in the West and The Good the Bad and the Ugly.

An Open Letter To My Colleagues

An open letter to my colleagues.
Anyone can pee on the toilet seat. That doesn't mean you should. Sir, if your aim is that bad why don't you sit down?
We already established in 1863 that filing your nails in the office was not professional. And clipping nails? Every few seconds we hear click click click, click click click. Not to mention the nail shrapnel landing on my desk.
Eating Fish is a healthy way of adding balance to your diet. Smelly fish? Please warn us so we may evacuate the kitchen.
We all fart - but you have a problem. Please see your doctor.
And by the way, cologne smells nice. Too much cologne is worse than fart.
And don't complain to me about your colleague until you look at yourself in the mirror.
This isn't about whether you should or shouldn't smoke. This is about not stinking up the office after you do smoke. Please wear a smoking jacket.
Also, your aggressive support of your favourite sports team is more suited to a sixteen year old. Additionally, your violent hate for your home team makes you a traitor.
Back to bathrooms, please flush after. If you have food poisoning, I am really sorry. Flush during.
Flossing your teeth is a sign of good hygiene. Flossing your teeth at your desk is a sign of poor hygiene.
You may talk to me but you must stay at least one step away from me. Any closer and you invade my personal space. If we are in the men's room, the minimum distance grows to six feet.
If you come up to me in the office and greet me with a hearty slap on the back I will make a joke and get back to work. If you greet me in the bathroom with a hearty slap on the back, as soon as my pants dry, we are going to have issues.

One of my cousins has five kids. A small army.

My wife and I have talked and agreed and we will be happy with one happy and healthy child. She wants a little girl. I want twins.
Either way, at least one happy and healthy child.
While many of my family and friends have multiple children I just want one happy, healthy, very large child. A giant child, so that no matter how many kids any other family and friends might have, my giant child will be able to beat them up.

Let's say I'm a little behind with this one. Fiona Apple's fourth studio album and first since 2005's Extraordinary Machine, The Idler Wheel Is Wiser than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More than Ropes Will Ever Do was released in 2012.

The Idler Wheel... earned a nomination at the 2013 Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Album and peaked at number 1 on the US alternative and US Rock album charts. It hit number 13 in Canada and number 68 in the UK.
The final track on the album, Hot Knife, features supporting vocals from Apple's sister and fellow singer Maude Maggart.
The video was directed by Paul Thomas Anderson who may be better known for his work on Boogie Nights, There Will Be Blood and Magnolia. Hot Knife drums may be reminiscent of 50s orchestral or African drumbeats.

My First Car

Shawn Ohara
My first car was a 1983 blue Toyota Corolla. Well, it was blue and rust. My friends called it the Toyota Corroded. It was my first car so no matter how bad, it was great.
I didn't buy it. My brother gave it to me when he got his first full time job and bought his first new car. He had purchased it second hand. I think I was the fourth driver.
He gave me the Corroded with one condition.

He gave me the Corroded with one condition.
The condition was, when I sell it, I give him the money. No problem, I said. And a fair deal if I ever heard one.
I drove the car for close to two two years. It got me to school, work and to play. In the first month I was nervous driving five-speed so I wouldn't take it on the highway. After a while, becoming more confident, highway or road way, I didn't care where it stalled.

It had an AM-FM radio but no cassette deck. It burned oil. Once a week I would fill up with gasoline. Once a month, I would have to fill up with oil.
Coolant also seemed to go fast, it too was either burning up or leaking out.
Coolant also seemed to go fast, it too was either burning up or leaking out.
One day I was on my way to the downtown campus of Concordia University when my hood flew open. I invested in a some cord so it wouldn't happen again.
The car had intermittent windshield wipers. What I mean is, that they worked, but only sometimes. When the windows became dirty I would have to drive through a puddle and hope the splash would clean off the grime. I was forever tailgating people praying the spray from the tires would do the same.
When it got too cold out the heater did not work. Worked like a charm during the summer.
One door wouldn't close so I had to invest in a second cord to tie it shut. I knew it was time to get rid of it when I was ticketed twice within a week for that door not closing.

When I finally saved up enough money for a down payment on a new car, the dealer would not take the Corroded as a trade-in. "Take it off the road", I was told, "it's was too dangerous". Was it because the handbrake was not connected?
So, I made a deal with a scrapyard. They agreed to tow it away and pay me $50.
When the scrap guy showed up he refused to take it. It wasn't worth the $50. A scrapyard did not want my car. It was not worthy of their level of scrap. I had to convince him to take it for free. It was my first car. It was awesome.

One of my favourite actors James Garner, whose whimsical style in the 1950s TV
Western “Maverick” led to a stellar career in TV and films such as “The
Rockford Files” and his Oscar-nominated “Murphy's Romance,” has died, police
said. He was 86. Garner also appeared in the "Great Escape" and "Support Your Local Gunfighter", and more recently, "Space Cowboys" and "8 Simple Rules".
He was found dead of natural causes Saturday evening at his
home in Brentwood , Los Angeles .
